Statesville Honored in Time Magazine
Russell Rauch and other members of Statesville Plumbing were recently honored in Time Magazine for building a home 3 years ago for Iraq war veteran Dale Beatty. Thanks to the support of local vendors, Dale’s home was free of charge. For their hard work and dedication, the Statesville team received the Home Depot Building Community Award in 2007.
Dale, along with war buddy John Gallina, have since developed Purple Heart Homes, a nonprofit that builds houses and adds handicapped-accessible features to existing homes of veterans. The friends started Purple Heart Homes after members of the Statesville-based Iredell County Home Builders Association (on which Rauch serves as a board member) asked Beatty if they could volunteer to build him a handicapped-accessible home on his family’s land.
Many thanks to the Statesville team for getting involved with their local community and supporting our veterans!
